During this lockdown period, we’ve been looking at a new classic logo for Wight Classics. An ideal time to get around to those jobs that are normally hard to prioritise.
For some time, we’d wanted a classic logo that reflected the style of classic cars that we work on. Something reminiscent of the classic logos of car marques from the 1920s to 1970s. Our inspiration included a number of well known and less well-known manufacturers. Also we wanted to capture something of our Isle of Wight home in the design, so we started with a diamond.
Diamond-shaped car badges also made us think of the Riley badge, which was an association we liked. Hopefully, you might also see influences of Alvis and MG in the way the letters have been exaggerated to fit the diamond shape. We’ve also incorporated colours from the Union Jack which you also see with the Standard Car Company of Coventry.
With the help of designers from well-known Island design agency Solent, we were able to refine our initial ideas and start to reveal a distinctive new look. We think that a classic logo has been created.
We hope you like our distinctive new look.
