Classic Car Services
Classic car servicing
We understand that classic and vintage vehicles require regular servicing. This can be a simple engine oil change or a more complete service. Our team works hard to provide value for money and we endeavour to keep customers aware of the cost of parts and labour. Contact us today to discuss your requirements.
Repairs
Old vehicles will require repairing at some stage, either to its mechanics, electrics or the bodywork. Whether your car has suffered from accident damage or the passing of time has just taken its toll, let us help you. Wight Classics will undertake engine, gearbox and transmission rebuilds as well as axle repairs. Our fabrication skills will make sure than panels are repaired and rust can be removed with confidence.
Restoration
Replace a single body panel as part of your car’s rolling restoration or opt for a full nut-and-bolt restoration. Wight Classics’ restoration service can adapt itself to your requirements. Both mechanical and bodywork can be undertaken in-house with our network of local specialists for additional aspects such as re-trimming upholstery. We can take your vehicle from a bare metal shell back to full roadworthiness.
Annual safety inspection
Cars first registered more than 40 years ago in most cases no longer require an MOT certificate. However, there are many exceptions and exemptions that owners should be aware and all owners are obligated “to keep the vehicle in a roadworthy condition”. Failure to do this could easily result in a hefty fine or in some cases your insurance coverage could be affected.
We recommend an annual safety check and service for the good of your classic car and for your peace of mind. Call us for more details. You can find out more about MOT exemptions for classic cars from the Government’s website.
Spare parts
Alongside classic car servicing, our extensive contacts network in the classic automotive sector means that can normally source new parts. When new parts prove impossible to obtain, we then will look to use used parts with the client’s consent.
Upgrades
The driving experience of older cars can often be improved by upgrading or adding new parts. This can range from servo-assisted brakes and power steering to unleaded fuel conversations or a suspension upgrade. We regularly fit electronic ignition and LED lights. Why not pop in to Wight Classics to talk though your ideas and we can add our experience and to develop upgrades that will suit you and your classic vehicle.
